It doesn't help when certain senior players have holocausts game after game, tbh.

Not sure if that at least is down to any "system".........

And only five of them can play football.

All things considered we're doing quite well tbh

Dips in form come with lack of confidence and that can be the result of playing in a system that doesn't work.

In this specific case, and with these specific players, that's a stretch. Rooney, for example, is in what looks like terminal decline. I seriously doubt that's down to the system.

It's exactly what it is. Him and Carrick.

Although with 34 year old Carrick it's more understandable. Rooney has barely hit 30 and he already looks finished.

Yep. In fairness to Rooney, he was playing first-team football at 16. He's just got too many miles on him.

But 4-4-2 will fix everything.

There definitely isn't a great squad. Ashley Young is probably our best wide player and we're traditionally a team that plays on the flanks.

Can't see the manager lasting another year if he doesn't deliver a trophy. He might just be a philosophical Moyes.

That's just silly and you know it.

The manager will see his 3 years out and rightly so imo. He's cleared the decks in just over a year in charge and is currently in the middle of a 3 year rebuilding plan. Nobody is expecting us to go win league titles just yet. You don't go from 7th to 1st in 18 months whilst shipping out 14 first team players and getting in about 10.

That's not to say we can't point out where the team is falling short, because it's so blatantly obvious tbh. There's a couple of huge problems Van Gaal is facing, the biggest of which is what to do about Rooney.

It is one of the weakest squads we've had in recent memory ffs

A lad bought to be a central midfielder is our 2nd - 3rd choice centre half.

A player who has been derided for years at right wing still appears to be our best option at right back.

And I don't even need to go into detail about the lack of quality options we have in attacking roles.

It wasn't even that weak of a starting XI for the league cup, there were only really 3 players who don't get regular minutes in the first team

Carrick looking finished is a major problem, puts a lot of pressure on Schweinsteiger who will struggle to start 40+ games based on his recent history.

An old argument but I still think we should have kept a couple(pick 2 from Welbeck, Hernandez, Nani and Kagawa) of the players we have let go in the last year, just to give some depth and options. Get rid of them if necessary when we start to put a decent squad together. If Martial picks up an injury Utd are screwed.

Hernández had gone really shit but he's arguably the one of those we most miss. Kags never fit in and the other two only played well when everyone else did, they weren't the type to lift the others. They all had to go for the sake of their own careers.

Probably, if Welbeck had been content to play from wide he could have been useful, Young and Lingard are currently getting playing time in those roles, Welbeck is better than both.
