Just because he's succeeded sometimes doesn't mean he hasn't wasted his talent. Same with Ferguson, he was an underachiever and it's only down to the collective mental illness of being a football supporter that people are accepting of it

What a return

Seriously, outside the waste of talent stuff, giving Rooney a 5.5 year deal was demented behaviour.

surely they've only done that so he doesn't leave on a free because if he's here next season I'll show my #@&%! in the grand mosque.

I'm sick of defending the @#%&! now, his performances this year have been a £#%&!ing disgrace and I'll be glad to see the back of him.

Should have sold him in the summer .
Never a number 10 and not as good as Rvp up top

He wastes his talent as he should be better than he is. He's had a good career and will be remembered as a very good player. He should have been a great.

There's much bigger wastes though.

see this is what gets me, while I think he's a @#%&! lately for his performances the arguments against him are £#%&!ing laughable.

What RVP, who's spat his dummy out so much he's refusing to play for United so he's ready for his national teams World Cup campaign?

And what just the twelve accolades in the last fours years carrying a team in steady decline?

£#%&!ing jokers.

Bellers, tell me you didn't think wayne would be the best player in the world based on his potential between 2004-2008?

Like forza says, just because he didn't become the best doesn't mean he's shit. He just could and should have been much more.

The problems began in 2009/10 imo, when we began playing him as a pure centre forward. And maybe when his body could no longer handle rooneys summer lifestyle.

Rooneys been great overall for us, would be ungrateful to suggest otherwise. He has been playing in a moyes team and had some injuries yet is on course for 30 goals+assists.

I think I agree but that doesn't mean he hasn't been one of our best players for the last ten years or is capable of being one again.

As I said last night, every players performance this season has been put down to Moyes incompetence apart from Rooney's obviously.

He is though. That in itself doesn't make him a horrendous player, or wipe away what has still been impressive achievements at the club.

maybe its not about that he has " under achieved" and more towards the fact that he is overrated ?

Do you mean he could've 'become more' at United (surrounded by such awesome quality year in year out) or somewhere like Madrid or Barcoh?

Way I see it - yes, his performances haven't been superb these last few years but look at what he's had to put up with. No midfield, no decent link play, having to play in midfield ( Can you imagine Aguero or Suarez being told to 'do a job' in the middle?) etc. Look at yesterday - nobody was getting the ball and supplying him, he had to keep coming to get it. Then, after Ferguson goes and he probably thinks "Yes! We'll buy now and sort out the side - with a great manager", in comes Moyes (who he hated) and Fellaini He's carried us but yeah, he's acted the @#%&! too. Shock horror.

No wonder he keeps looking for the £#%&!ing door.
