Default Fuentes/Barca/Spain gate ends in disgrace to sport

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-22353145

So he just got convicted for a year and the evidence has been ordered to be 'destroyed' , no footballers or tennis player allowed to be named and only some of the cyclists were named.

Spain went from a decentish sporting nation to dominant in tennis, cycling and football all in the same period. Coincidence? Who said cheats don't prosper? They've just taken a big piss on WADA.

Still believe we are moral winners of the 2009 and 2011 CL finals #20:5

Looks that way.

Ironic since this was brought to light, Barca have struggled. Messi has been injured.

Yep. Can't say I was impressed with them at the Euros either.

Not only that, look at how Madrid started the season.

Football in Spain is dodgy as £#%&!, you know how they back the big clubs and give the little ones £#%&! all to work with and that's just not with TV money either.

Out of interest what is the evidence of the involvement in sports other than the cycling? Not really been following this.

Absolutely. It just £#%&!ing reeks to high heaven doesn't it. Nobody wants to open up that can of worms when it comes to the football teams and the tennis players. It would be catastrophic for the integrity of Spanish football and European football. Can you imagine? All those trophies..the european cups, the world cup, Euro 2012. All with a huge shadow cast over them. :shakehead:

We may not have won the 2009 & 2011 European cup finals, but i bet we wouldn't have got shit on the way we did if they weren't all blood-doped up to the nines.

Xavi between 2008 and 2012 played more or less every single game of the Eurosx2, WC, confed cup as well as going deep into the CL and copa del rey without being rested. 80 games a year for club and country where he always covered the most ground, had 90%+ passing accuracy...basically unheard of consistency considering how much he played.

This for a small catalan guy who before 2008 was regularly injured and was never seen as this super fit 'medical marvel'.

Messi, NEVER injured once Pep Guardiola came in 2008, plays every single game. Before you bring up Ronaldo, he has had 2 or 3 decent length injuries since he went to Madrid and he is on another level to Messi physically yet Tom Thumb is NEVER injured? #why

Hilarious to think that despite cheating their hype was built on beating 2 average United teams.

" While leading professional cyclists, including Tyler Hamilton, Jesus Manzano and Jorge Jaschke, were called as witnesses, the trial did not probe evidence of doping in other sports. WADA and AEA had both hoped to mount their own enquiries using evidence found by the Puerto investigators, but confiscated computers and 211 bags of blood from 35 unknown sportspeople are reportedly to be destroyed once the sentences have been confirmed. AEA chief Ana Munoz is expected to seek a legal challenge to overturn the denial of access to these materials.

Fuentes, who was employed by Las Palmas when the club was promoted to La Liga in 2000/01, has hinted that he treated top La Liga players in the past, but claims death threats have forced him not to reveal further details.

Former Real Sociedad president Inaki Badiola told AS in February that the doctor worked for the Basque club in the past, and the code 'RSOC' appeared in documents relating to blood transfusions during the trial. Sociedad, and its former president Jose Luis Astiazaran, have strongly denied Badiola's claims.

Real Madrid and Barcelona both took legal action in 2009 to force Le Monde to withdraw allegations Fuentes had worked for both clubs in the past. The French newspaper also said Valencia and Real Betis had been among his other clients. In February Spanish FA president Angel Maria Villar dismissed allegations of doping in La Liga as "anecdotes". So much truth.

All the evidence is destroyed now though and the record books stand. What an absolute farce. :shakehead: They've hung the cyclists out to dry as that is the most low-profile sport and nobody really cares about them. If Fuentes had named the other athletes in football as he offered to, then it would have made the whole lance armstrong affair look like small news.

However in December 2010, he is quoted saying: "If I would talk, the Spanish football team would be stripped of the 2010 World Cup"
Is it any wonder barca have dropped off so suddenly? Getting @#%&!ted off Bayern and looking a shadow of themselves? Can there be any doubts as to what was happening behind the scenes? The biggest drug cheat cover up in sporting history.

The blood bags are from 2006, aren't they? Zidane, Ronaldinho, Raul, Eto'o etc could all be implicated.

tbf, I bet he had quite a few Premier League clients too.

Sporting CP brought Jeffren from Barca to Lisbon a couple of years ago. Since arriving in Portugal guess what? Major fitness level struggles.

Wouldn't have happened under Pep #injectthemuscle

He struggled at Barca tbf. Maybe he's just shit?

The rest though I don't understand how they can just decide not to name or investigate certain sports or people, it's £#%&!ing ridiculous. Surely it should be coming in like Operation Yewtree, sportsmen and women all over the World shitting themselves that they are next to be brought in..

You're talking about doing something that could possibly cost the sporting industry billions, practically ruin spanish football's reputation along with making FIFA and UEFA look like fools.

Of course they'll brush it under the carpet ffs. They probably can't burn that evidence quick enough.
