Football UEFA have £#%&!ed around with the Champions League again this season

Instead of all eight 2nd round games being played over 2 days. they have decided it would be a good idea to stagger them over 4 weeks. ie, 4 games will be played on (1st leg )16/17.Feb.2010 & 23/24.Feb.2010 then
(2nd leg) 09/10.March.2010 & 16/17.March.2010

What the £#%&! are they playing at with this? Why can't the £#%&!ing leave the competition alone?

Its been shit since about 2001 imo.

Totally bored with the champions league.

It's probably alot to do with familiarity breeding contempt but...ffs...it just holds vitually no appeal these days.

Wake me up at the 1/4 final stage.

same - dont look forward to it remotely aside from the knockouts. Last time I buzzed to £#%&! for it was when we had Lyon and Fenerbache in our group so 04.

You know there's something wrong with the competition when we can get beat and still qualify.

The competition up to the quarters has become a joke, then it gets interesting.

There's been a drop in the average attendance, and clubs like Bayern are struggling to sell out important games at home (they didn't midweek)

Youmight feel differently if we weren't so good. Like the scouse for instance. Not defending the compo or format, just saying. like.

To get more TV money.

If United and another english team play on the same night, then people will obviously only watch one of them, if they spread it, then they are likely to watch both, thus increasing audience and advertising revenue and hence profit for that french @#%&! and that swiss @#%&!

league format? What would be the point. What's in it for those who have no chance of winning the league itself? You're not going to be relegated or 'get into europe' because, er you're already there?

I think the group stages are now a bit dodgy as there are so many crap teams in and that 1/4 final stage is a shockingly poor idea...

The format since they got rid of the second group stage has been good and working well. They'll £#%&! it up for sure.

Group stages have been alright this season.A lot of the teams who werent given a chance have held their own and made it hard for the big teams to qualify.

Most groups have been fine. Ours has been a bit dull though

Thats definately correct.

We dont send out anything like our best team until the knockouts any more.

Absolutely. I think them going out has breathed new life into the competition. Not just because it's them, it's one of the 'big hitters' falling at the first hurdle.

Then you've got Barca's group where all 4 teams still have a chance of qualifying, that Romanian team in Rangers group.

It's been ok so far this season.

What do people expect this early in the competition? If it was straight knockout you'd have cup teams winning it and it doesn't make Kiev Vs Porto sound any more watchable.
