Football Fixtures 09/10 - The Offishul thread

Wednesday 10am

Who you want / expect on the opener - sure as Hell it'll be Sunday at 4PM as Sky usually move the champions on the first weekend.

Reckon we'll get one of the promoted 3, possibly away.

Interesting link from the BBC - whether you believe this or not is up to you - wonder if we'll get another 'grand slam sunday' next season

First or second away game will be Pompey.

No question of that.

Will be my annual away day.

Very rare that the Champions are away first game.
Utd will get a choice if they play home or away first.

The true fixtures dont come out till Sky have messed with them.

Will be interesting to see who we get Boxing/New Years day, as usually a North East club, so would leave Hull or Sunderland. Why they dont keep them more local I'll never know. They will also throw in some random midweek, like last season when we played away at Pompey and Everton played away at Spurs, why we didnt play Everton and Pompey play Spurs i'll never know.

The Europa league will mean a lot more games on a Sunday and the first knockout stage of the champiosn league is spead over 4 weeks now, so clubs wont know who they play either side of that, might stop some moaning by Benitez!

The end of April/beginning of May is always fixed so we play the potetial challengers, so liverpool/Chelsea/Arsenal will be in there.
Probably fixed so we play away at Liverpool before end of September, as we are never at our peak by then.

Villa away

...or Arsenal at home. That'd be a nice curtain raiser.

Most likely Hull at Old Trafford though..

Can't wait Hope we've got a couple of quality signings by then (although we usually leave it till the very last minute) ...& fingers crossed Wazza comes through pre-season & the opening game unscathed for the first time in his United career.

Seeing as we're likely to have a few new players, we could do with a relatively easy first few games.

Won't happen.

The forum would be in meltdown if we went into that 1 point ahead.
