He hasn't done it to get sent off. Everything these pundits are saying is just speculation.

he mistimed his run and put his hands up rather than take the ball in the face. That's all.

It was a yellow card. but he should have never got the 1st yellow anyway. a scandalous decision.

Gullit made an interesting point, what would have happened if he'd just caught it?

it was a strange one, but it doesn't merit the 4 days of micro-analysis that will inevitably follow.

all that matters is we beat the blue bastards

It wasn't. It was bizarre and it was incomprehensible.

Just what was going through Ronaldo's mind when he did that?

From Sky Sports that lot, not me

If Referees were not under so much pressure, and were allowed to use common sense Ronaldo would of finished the game today.

There was a whistle( or a scream) though, if you listen carefully it's at the same time as the horn.

Howard Webb is a attention seeking @#%&!, no other reason. Any ref with common sense would have seen Ronaldo wasn't gaining an advantage.

If he was protecting his face it isn't a yellow card. It's an indirect free-kick to Citeh.
