It's probably dawned on him that Liverpool won't even be second next season.
But apparently that won't matter as there is no real difference between the top clubs

the figures show Benitez has bought more players, for more money, and for a bigger net spend

United have been far more successful, and they've done it by playing far better football.

Benitez: 1 FA Cup, 1 CL, 1 Super Cup, 1 title challenge
Ferguson: 2 League Cups, 1 World Club Cup, 2 losing FA Cup finals, 1 losing Super Cup

2 and soon to become 3 titles. A European Cup, another final ?!

For me that is the main difference between the teams. You have seen that with regard to Chelsea before, spending big money. The advantage United have is that they have a big squad. In the last years they have spent money to improve that squad even more.

They have spent big on top-class players, so they can make mistakes and they can change players. When we won there, they had Ryan Giggs, Paul Scholes and Dimitar Berbatov on the bench."

Does anyone have to hand the net spending figures for both teams since the fat £#%&! took over?

What a £#%&!ing crank. Deluded.
why the £#%&! isnt anyone pulling this @#%&! up about this? the evidence is out there. he's spent more than us in his time at the dark side plus he probably inherited the best scouse side since they last won it. where are the football journo's equivalent of jeremy paxman?

talk about a neash

Good question, there is no reason to fear being ostracised from the Anfield press lounge, surely it cannot be long until the fat fool is locked away in a padded cell, with his arms strapped up his back and as much mashed banana as he can eat?

anyone can ask awkward questions. it's more difficult to ask the right questions.

wtf you're on about comparing Newsnight to football interviews is anybody's guess. you sound like you've been sucked in by the media hype though.

Eh? what else am i going to compare asking managers awkward questions with? For a start the interview should know his shit, like paxman does and when he lines up a question he should have the front to hit the intervieweee with facts that sit the @#%&! on his arse. swap paxman for dimbleby if you want. you get the point though, i know you do.

a football manager's job is to create a team and send them out to win football matches

you have serious issues if you think part of a manager's job is to answer to some Paxman-type #@&%! on behalf of some @#%&! who sets an agenda for a news organisation

you are deluded as well if you seriously believe that news anchors usually "know their shit" on all the subjects they quiz public figures on. the interviews are short , the range is tight, and the conversation is loaded.
