There has never been anything quite like it, phenomenal storytelling largely because it was essentially a true story. So many supporting characters that contributed, Wallace was only in for one season yet it was gutting/shocking when he got popped.

Avon was the man and the scene when Marlo visits him in prison is one of my favourites, as is Stringer and Avon on the balcony on the Inner Harbour. I work in Baltimore a few times a year around the Harbour, on my first trip I took a wrong turn and ended up in rowhouse Baltimore, abandoned is the best way to describe it. Have spent plenty of time in shithole areas in England but nowhere quite has the desolation and abandonment that I saw there, so many people with physical and mental issues, very bleak and almost colourless surroundings.

Speaking of neighbourhoods Michael from S4/S5 lives in mine, have spoken to him a few times and he's a really lad. Also saw Levy on the subway, he gave me a :keane tbf.

Can't recommend enough reading Homicide: A Year In The Killing Streets and The Corner is on youtube, not an easy watch but they were all based on real people.

Could go on but for those who want to kill a day at work:

Got pissed with Rawls in an Irish bar in Prague when on a stag.

Bought him a whisky and he told me he had no idea Rawls was gay until Dominic West started rinsing him as he arrived on set for filming one morning.

The Wire is the GOAT. Just edges Sopranos, for me.
