Default Quick one for all you switched-on betting types

I was just looking to have a little dabble on the CL, and was checking out the odds on oddschecker.

Best prices: I note that the bookies have Sevilla at 200/1, and Porto at 150/1. They’ve got United at 18/1, and Liverpool are 17/1.

Bear with me, but they’re saying United have the weaker opponent and are less likely to win the tournament than Liverpool, who have the stronger opponent.

How’s that work? I’d just like a bit of clarification before I go balls deep and lay my fiver on. What am I missing (apart from a cerebrum, obviously)?

You've probably got hundreds or even thousands of scousers betting their dole cheque on Liverpool. Remember: they're all deluded fuckwits who think they have the best player in the world in every position and the best manager.

Bookies will always shorten the odds when there's a lot of money coming in.

Yep.

Short version - Scousers are stupid.

Implicit evidence that Scousers will be fixing the draw for subsequent rounds imo
