Pep's watched DVDs, made secret trips to the training ground and immersed himself in City's history

He will be officially presented to those Cityzen members lucky enough to clinch a ticket at his unveiling behind the scenes at the City Football Academy on July 3.

He will address the fans, smile for the camera; he will appear calm on the surface while the enthusiasm flurries into overdrive inside.

He made a couple of secret trips to the club’s plush training base last month, meeting various senior chiefs along the way, and communicating how he plans to implement the evolution of the club.

What also has City enthused is his desire to immerse himself in the club’s history, spending hours studying their past.

He will doubtless have seen Paul Dickov’s 95th-minute equaliser in the 1999 Second Division play-off final at Wembley, plus the wild celebrations of goalkeeper Nicky Weaver to follow.
