Clear favorites to win the match and the cup. de Gea is better than Cassilas as well.

Can't say I'm delighted to see big dave in there. Hope it doesn't lead to any foolish "early season resting" with the calamitous Dane taking his place.

As a left back/left winger, I respect goalkeepers a lot. But I HAVE to agree.

Goalkeepers can even play 100 games a year if they have to.

Not well. Mental fatigue. It's impossible to maintain concentration much longer than an average season.

Maybe mentally - yes. But physically, definitely no.

Outfielders run around 10km/match, unlike 2/3km for a goalkeeper.

This is not exactly news.

Still - there are things you're not considering. The prematch warmup is generally a 30-minute training session for a keeper. I usually worked myself into a pretty good sweat. Your body can only hit the ground so many times. Playing a game in goal is not exhausting of course, but it IS tiring when you factor that in, plus the nervous tension and responsibility.

I couldn't even handle the pressure of when the crowd does that "woooooooooAAAAHHHH!" thing when you go to take a goalkick.

That's why I missed the ball sometimes.

"Too slow and doesn't impact the game enough" according to our scouting report on him apparently. And people wonder why Moyes is getting rid of some staff.

If we can really get Thiago for 18 million this summer then it would be criminal not to make a big effort to sign him

Lovely footballer who can play as a number 10 or a deeper midfielder

If we sign him then we just need to sign someone like Matic at Benfica to add a more physical centre midfielder to our squad

Spain with the usual 70% possession. Nothing to show for it though.
