Carrick was immense, so was Giggs, valencia was superb and did his job but Im going Rooney!

Dunno why, Carrick was amazing but got given loads of space.

carrick for me. true, he did benefit from the space to play in, but it was a good positive performance from him - exemplary passing at times, won the ball back on plenty of occasions and stood out with his instruction and control of the midfield.

special mentions for fabio and park. so much energy from the two of them. Park is what he is, and for all his failings with his touch etc, he is extremely important at the business end of the season!

If we forget about the opposition, he looked world class tonight. Like a European master. Making himself available, passing superbly, never wasting posession, protecting the back four.

Let's hope Carrick's confidence is sorted after tonights performance. He was top class tonight, best performance of the season by a mile for the lad tonight.

Carrick IMO.

He's looked a lot better over the last few weeks, and I was worried that the error he made against City at Wembley would dent his confidence, but he gave a masterclass tonight.

Its good to see his passing range coming back. He was spraying some lovely balls all over the field today, and if you add that to his consistently excellent defensive play he is an excellent United player. Top display tonight.

Carrick - #stayedonhisfeet, would love to see how many times he was caught in possession, I'm gathering once or twice at most, made £#%&! loads of positive passes & was going FORWARD, again, much the same as the Chelsea away game. It all starts from a positive mentality in the middle, the movement of the forwards helps immeasurably of course, but Carrick found them repeatedly & more importantly, against a side famed (according to McLaren pre-match) for their pressing game, he was a ghost. That bodes well for the run in.

thought rooney was ordinary and once again a very limited goal threat. and then he got an assist and a goal. united can dominate like that against better sides, but those sides make you pay for not making hay, something schalke never looked like being good enough to do...

all in all, hard to guage the performance with schalke choking so badly. far too much time and space for everyone on the ball. so my vote would go to carrick because he was the only one who consistently used it. he ran the game.
