If you have a spare hour, give this a watch on iplayer. It's basically the whole history of the area and explains how it went full circle in terms of inequality over 100 years. I was asked if i was interested in going on this programme but I said no. My grandparents landed smack bang in the middle of Notting hill in the 60s along with other migrants from former british colonies in the caribbean.

The mixture of poor people living over the road from millionaire doctors and bankers is something you won't find anywhere else in the country.
