Is he a better player? Because otherwise, I don't see what's in it for us as fans.

I'm not surprised Southampton have rejected it tbh. As others have said, everybody knows how desperate we're going to be for players and Woodward has been shouting his £#%&!ing gob off to the press about how much money we're looking to spend for months.

At this rate if the club are looking to spend £150m we'll get about 3 players for that.
It's showmanship for Southampton fans' benefit. The clubs have been in talks for months.

It's £27m ffs. It's not as if we've made some derisory offer. He'll be up there with the likes of Nesta, Dani Alves and Coentrao as one of the most expensive defenders in history. Showmanship shouldn't come into it, most of their fans would understand that it's a whopping amount of money for an 18 year old with 2 seasons of experience under his belt.

If they reject 27 million then we should £#%&! them off and tell Shaw that unless he demands Southampton let him go to Utd then this transfer won't happen

£#%&!ing mind boggling to turn that amount of money down for an 18 year old left back.

The only thing i can think of is United are being tight @#%&!s and want to pay it in £5m a year installments for 5 years.

Didn't they refuse to sell Bale to us even though we offered more than Tottenham? Seems like they're another one of these no-mark clubs that believe they have some kind of rivalry with us.

£27m is a very fair offer; in fact, it's an outstanding offer. If they £#%&! us around, then we should just go and sign Ricardo Rodríguez; he's got just as much potential as Shaw.

If Chelsea came in with £25 million today he'd be gone. I just don't get it, you're right that it's a superb offer. Up it to £35 million to show we're not £#%&!ing around and you can bet they'd reject it.

Other than the Guardian, who's saying it's been rejected?

Nothing officially from Southampton either.

Tbf Chelsea would probably offer near enough £25m straight up

We're probably offering £30m over a number of years and clauses etc.

£15m up front, £5m after 120 England caps, £5m after 200 career goals, £5m when the kid marries a page 3 model....

Yeah mentioned similar yesterday, Southampton seem to have some issue with dealing with United for whatever reason, though maybe now it is just as Woodward is a £#%&!ing idiot and they want to rinse him for every penny.
Either way they are a shitty little panto club trying act the big man.
