Nani or Valencia to start at Wembley?

If Utd play Barca I do not think that Fergie will go with a Carrick-Giggs midfield partnership. Giggs is a very attacking midfield option, the freedom he had last night to get forward was remarkable really, but against Barca the midfield Utd use has to be more compact and aggressive in their pressing.

Carrick and Giggs tend to pounce on mistakes, but Barca can and will keep the ball for long periods and standing off and allowing them easy possession would be risky.

Hernandez, Giggs and Park all have a case to start and against Madrid who are a little more staccato in their play it is more likely we would see the team and positive attitude that so impressed in Schalke.

Who plays Right Back is also up in the air. Fabio is developing superbly now, I always suspected that he would be a better right back than left, as the more talented of the 2 he would have been more comfortable playing on his weaker side during their development. Not quite as aggressive as his brother either but perhaps a little more composure about his play.

injuries permitting, i would be astonished if fergie does not go with the team we have played against both chelsea and schalke with superb results. dropping hernandez is unimaginable, if barca have a weakness it is puyol and pique against movement and pace and hernandez is just the player.

I would really fancy Nani against Barca's defence, especially if Puyol and Mascherano are playing. Not sure if Abidal will be back though.

thats a really nice looking tree, sorry, but rooney on his own up front wont work, nor will smalling at right back i think. Room for Hernandez methinks.

maybe nani has changed a game or two off the bench. can't think of one though, never mind a big one. fletcher shouldn't be anywhere near the team for the final btw.

Our midfield of Carrick, Anderson & Giggs failed last time. Park harried all he liked but he didn't quite have the ability on the ball. Maybe that was a one enough though where we collectively failed.

We need to be able to press them but we also need to be able to have players that are technically good enough to keep the ball when we do have it, as they'll press us as well.

Fergie said he learnt from Rome, and won't make the same mistakes again. Undoubtedly he plans to use the Da Silva twins to unravel the mysteries of Barca's midfield magic.
