Comedies aren't usually shit Dumb and dumber was a genuinely funny film. And given the fact that it came out 2 years before The English Patient I don't know why it would beat it to best picture, you fucking div.

Most pictures that win oscars are mind-numbingly fucking boring anyway.

Exactly. It's the same type of miserable depressing shit every year that wins.

Fart jokes are funny and I do enjoy them but they shouldn't be winning awards over films like The Revenant and Gladiator.

I meant conceptual and visually stunning etc, comedies usually get awarded things for being funny. I doubt them brothers made Something about Mary thinking, I hope we win best film at the Oscars, they just wanted to make people laugh.

Ps I just guessed two films that were different

Out of the last 7 years of oscar winning films, i've only seen one of them. 12 years a slave. It was, as predicted, morbid as fuck, Yet another "slavery film" by numbers. The rest of them have all looked about as appealing as a root canal.

Forrest fucking Gump won best film over Pulp Fiction in 1994. Forrest Gump.

Why? Art is subjective.

Forrest Gump was superb and also quite funny. It dealt with a huge range of emotions from happiness to acute sorrow.

Pulp fiction is one of the greatest films of all time. Forrest Gump, was yet again another example of hollywood handing out oscars to people who play mentally sub normals.

As Winslet says in that clip from extras.

It is but it's also pretentious and that's the target market. If you put a Tracy Emin exhibition next to someone sitting on a whoopee cushion most people will crow on about the imagination and creativity of what Emin did but only a few people will enjoy the whoopee cushion more, even though it's probably much more entertaining.
