My parents divorced when I was 7 or 8. Didn't see much of my old man for the first few years then saw nothing of him.
He rang me up, a few days before my 18th birthday & asked if I wanted to spend it with him & his wife at their place. I politely refused.
I got back in touch when I was in my 20's. I just find we have nothing in common & he's not the sort to make the 1st move. My sister now has a good relationship with him, but me ... well I just keep waiting for him to call/email me, as every other time it has been me instigating the contact.

Get on well with my step-dad, he's a very decent guy. I respect him a lot. Love my mum too, she's ace. Despite the split, I reckon I've been pretty fucking lucky, had good parents & a good, normal upbringing. All my grandparents were fucking brilliant too. So sad that all my grand-parents have all gone now. I miss them all.

There is only one persons fault I'm a fucking screw-up & that's me.

no fun

mum died when I was 17 - was a good looking woman, a great mum to me, got on fine with her - I often think it was really sad that she never lived to meet her grandkids

dad died when I was 35 - genuinely the nicest person I ever knew
