You could argue that if @#%&!s like Young & Valencia etc were putting decent performances then Giggs would be nowhere near the side.

(Although Valencia was injured/rested due to international)

With all due respect Giggs is way past it now, he can't influence games like he used to do, he should of retired last season on a high like scholes did, obviously scholes didn't have an amazing season last season due to injuries but at least he won the league. I don't think we will win anything this season so hes going to retire on a downer.

Giggs needs to be honest with himself like scholes was, at the monent hes holding the team back and hes holding young/hungry/talented players like Zaha and Kagawa back, if Giggs retired last season then Kagawa would of played alot more and its a damm shame that we as United fans are being deprived of the talents of Kagawa.

Giggs has started poorly the last few seasons IMO. We then get the inevitable calls for him to retire, but by November/December he's usually on blob and pulling out a few performances where he rolls back the years.

Might be beyond him this year, but I'm not writing him off yet.

Its difficult, the mans a REAL living legend, we have a lot to thank him for.

But there's no place on the pitch for sentiment, MAYBE he keeps getting used as he's one of the few players who follows the managers orders to the letter. Positions himself as instructed?

I don't know, hope he gets his goal this year, that record will NEVER be beaten.

God bless him,

Only saw the first half and highlights of the 2nd, but thought it was a clear improvement on his sub appearances this season.

Well said, he's not been good so far but he's by no means the biggest concern. As you say he's improved as the season has gone on these last few years. No reason why he can't do it again.

He got caught a couple of times last night agreed, but he played well overall. Number of times Neville said his age though ffs. Yes, Gary, we know he's 40 soon...

Giggs in proving people wrong shocker, hes still a valuable member of the squad imo and obviously good to have around the place.

Seem to remember he dragged us through a few games over Christmas, last year was it?

That run he had late on which led to the Rooney fresh air shot/offside is the best piece of individual attacking play from one of the midfielders all season. Caught on the ball a few times, better teams would punish those mistakes but some of his attacking play is exactly what Utd have been missing.

Some superb link up play with Kagawa after he came off the wing.

You do just have the marvel at the old £#%&!er

He's 40, not a natural midfielder, too casual at times, loses concentration and gives the ball away cheaply, but it doesn't change the fact that he's invariably the most gifted player on the pitch, so can affect the game with effortless quality pretty much whenever he chooses.

Anyone who thinks he's past it and can't contribute are wrong.

But we should use him sparingly because we have more long term players to nurture and we need to keep giggs fresh.

Of all players in our squad, he's the last one who needs to be put on at 60mins to give him some gametime.

Imagine being a player in your early 20s and a 40 year old does that to you
