Top ten outfield players in a starting formation.
Top ten players who didn’t have an affair.
Top ten brothers.

Under-rated and taken for granted. One of the best players throughout the greatest period in the club's history. Most decorated player in the history of the English game. Top £#%&!ger too.

Familiarity breeding nonsense.

Somewhere on a Juventus forum: "Del Piero. He was okay I guess"

Ask fans of other clubs, especially overseas, what they thought of Giggs.
I used to know a Juve fan who basically wanted to make love to Giggs.

Looking back there were periods when he had quite a few stinkers. 97-98? I remember quite a bit of exasperation with him at the time.

But underachieve? Ha. No.
We were spoilt rotten.

I think it’s those that saw him burst on the scene in the early 90s that will understand where the opinion came from. What we saw pre-hamstring was very different. Wasn’t just 97-98 either zorg; I remember a lot of muttering sin the stands in the early 00s about his game dropping off a bit. Great goal against Juventus supposedly turned it around but many in North Stand still weren’t convinced. As I’ve said all along, despite some missing it, great player for us. Did Ronaldo raise the bar too high and provide an unrealistic comparison? Quite possibly.

His personal statistics could have been way more impressive if he’d had the selfish streak of a Ronaldo, or even Beckham when it came to free kicks, but one of Giggs’ attributes was dedication to team over self; much like Rooney in that regard.

That said, when he was off, he was really off.

An up for it Giggs on a European night got the blood pumping like nothing else.

Stats are not what football is about, the unscripted theater of it all is. Giggs will forever be one of the most enthralling players of any generation & his trophy cabinet is testament to that.

Used to go to the Haç. Scuttled Dani Behr when she was in her pomp. Gorgeous hair.

Can remember taking against him initially. He seemed to just materialise during a Lee Sharpe injury spell and take the shine away from big Lee, who I think as an 8 year old boy I actually fancied on some level.

Maybe he did slightly underachieve, in some respects.

But even *if* that is true, does it matter?

He gave so much joy to us for so long.

If you watch back some of our old games now he was so much more about goals... his play and assists were great too. For example in the 4-3 against City he has 3 assists.

I think his all round vision and reading of the game was phenomenal and he’s sorely missed.
