Talk is that Xavi has been charged with informing FDH and Depay that they won’t be playing and need to leave for the good of the club while they’re on tour

Economic levers, ffs.

Laporta is basically like the Wizard of Oz pulling levers behind a curtain pretending the club aren't absolutely £#%&!ed, the slimy, corrupt Catalonian @#%&!.

If Utd really want to speed this up…

They should offer the de Jong fee for Rice.

They’ve just had another €350m or so injected into the club by selling a further 15% of TV rights earnings for the next 25 years. Making a total of 25%. So for the next 25 years they receive €150m a season (or whatever, not sure what they get) some benefactor takes €37.5m of it.

They’ve payday loaned themselves into having a transfer budget, basically.

They’ve got €200m to spend on fees. They’re still £#%&!ed from a wage cap pov with the league and need to get €100m from player sales and as much off the wage bill as possible or they can’t register the players they sign with the money.

They remain massively in debt.

They plan to pull a 3rd lever, in selling a large portion of their merchandising rights in similar fashion, but they don’t want to do that until next year as the value will be much higher due to it being based on accounts representing a full year post-Covid/lockdown. Or so the theory goes.

They’re still trying for the Superleague in the background too. Proper dodgy bastards.

Ah fair enough tbh I haven’t been paying that much attention, I just really want him to sign. Cheers for the explanation, yhgr.

Yep. But the manager knows and loves this player. I think he will join. I was with half of United's commercial team last week and they all were told he was joining and to be ready but they are all in the dark again now.

I even asked Robbo
