Default Homegrown players in the matchday squad

Loads has been made of out us having a home grown player in the squad for every game since 1937 in the last couple of years

Team v brugge

20 Romero
36 Darmian Booked
12 Smalling Booked
17 Blind
23 Shaw
28 Schneiderlin
16 Carrick (Schweinsteiger - 45' )
08 Mata
11 Januzaj (Hernández - 72' )
07 Depay
10 Rooney (Fellaini - 84' )

Substitutes
14 Hernández
18 Young
21 Herrera
25 A Valencia
27 Fellaini
31 Schweinsteiger
50 Johnstone

Gotta be a chance it stops this season, only Johnstone and Adnan in the squad last game and Johnstones time must be up after the window shuts. If we buy another forward Adnan may make way.

Is anyone arsed? Should he always have one of the kids on the bench to keep the run going?

I'd like to say I couldn't give a £#%&!, but it's an impressive stat and I'd like to see it continue. I'd like to think Wilson/Pereira will be on most benches this season.

too right we should be bothered .what a source of pride to have players like young adnan in the squad. nothing like seeing the local lads playing for the club. it's what sets united apart.

I guess if you call adnan and pereira home-grown, you probably don't care that much.

Would prefer to see it continue and LVG should've been made aware when he joined. #identity #mesqueunbrand

Exactly. Only a matter of weeks before we the home grown stat goes

Not arsed for any sentimental reasons. But it doesn't reflect well on the state of our academy when most of our prospects have been poached from overseas

In the sense that the qualify and keep the run going, having played for the youth side, then they are. Agree Wilson is proper home grown, but still.

A gossamer thin strand connecting us to what we were before football went mental.

May it last long enough for the club to commodify it.

The real record was having a homegrown player play in every game since 1937
That ended away at Arsenal at the end of the 2010-11 season when John O'Shea was on the bench but didn't come on

Nah I mean the record about having someone from our youth system in every matchday squad, I mentioned it on here a few weeks ago but got told that already ended. No search option so can't find it.

Not sure how impressive it is to have a homegrown player in a matchday squad especially if he doesn't get on for even one minute

It's important to me....

Would rather have 11 heads that get united over 11 di Maria's
