Played well but still not good enough for long term goals. Needs to be binned in the summer. Otherwise we are in the circle of these rubbish players doing just enough to keep afloat , get a new contract and revert to type.

Perfectly fine if played in front of a decent keeper alongside someone with pace. The fact that we have neither really doesn't help.

We lose about 40 minutes of opportunity every match with him playing wall passes to Lindelof.

He’s doing his job ok at the moment.

If the forwards could manage a goal or two, the defenders would probably be under less scrutiny

Coincidental that we're on our best run of form with the fewest goals conceded?

Let’s not get ahead of ourselves. In all competitions in the last 5 games we have conceded 3 goals twice and 4 goals once.

Not saying it’s down to him, he’s been playing decent, but as CB he plays a big part of the defence. The team as a whole has been poor. But let’s not pretend he’s some answer to our defensive and team woes

Hard to forget that colossal defensive performance where we conceded 4 goals to Copenhagen tbf.

he's been alright at best. the bar is so low we're literally just praising players who turn up.

Maguire over Varane
The Scottish Player over casemiro

they've not magically become incredible players over night but this is where we're at.

Thought he was excellent tonight. Won virtually everything in the air.

On current form he starts games even if both Varane and Martinez are fit.

His attitude has been first class.

He’s really picked himself up off the deck.

if only teams didn't pass the ball along the floor...did his best to give away an equaliser

Did well again. More like the payer we signed, rather than the one we had as captain.

I honestly don’t understand the notion that he is playing well. Better than he was sure but that was dreadful. He is slow and cumbersome and cannot pass forwards aside from the right to left diagonal. He takes ages to bring the ball under control and try and find a pass. He slows all the attacks down. And the stupid fouls.

Calvert Lewis was given a free header where was Maguire? He almost scored an own goal and had a header at the end that was miles off target.

He is good at defending the air in his own box but that’s about it.

I'm not his biggest fan, but you're just wrong here.

I thought he handled Calvert lewin quite well, especially considering he was having to rescue the other centre half who is allergic to defending.

You can not like him as a player, or think this form will soon return to 'Normal' but lets not be disingenuous about how he's currently playing

He still needs to be sold, still adds to many unwanted distractions. But respect to the resilience he's showing here
