Should follow similar concussion protocol to the NFL, allow the team to make a temporary substitution while the player is checked out by a doctor, the doctor makes the decision on whether the player can return or not.

On Sunday, a Raiders player took a hit to the head early on in the game. He was sent back to the locker room to be checked for concussion. He was deemed fit to return but when he was back on the pitch, the refs saw something they didn't like & he was removed a second time. IIRC, he didn't return to the game.
Not seen that before TBH.

Terrible decision by Arsenal on many levels.

WWE did a bad one last year - the fragrant Kairi Sane was knocked unconscious during a big match and the stupid, thick Charlotte Flair thought she was being uncooperative and threw her around a lot and kicked her.

Thankfully Becky Lynch (partnering Flair) was smart enough to intervene and protect Sane but she still had to finish the match.

Anyway, one expects it from WWE charlatans but not from Arsenal.

Awful, awful call.

Maybe as it was David Luiz they thought the chance of brain damage was negligible.

If they are going to take the idea of concussions and head injuries seriously then imo they are going to have to bring in a team of independent doctors for each match to carry out any tests and take any decision making away from a club and their players.

If club doctors are carrying out the tests and making the decision then there is always going to be questions asked about the decisions they make, even if the decision they end up with is based on their professional opinion with no outside influence. David Luiz being a good example. They probably thought he was OK to continue, but maybe their decision was influenced without even knowing it by their relationship with the club and the player.

Obviously this can't be done at all levels, but neither is VAR so it's not like that matters any more.

They were gonna take points off them, but they don’t have any.
