Apart from the fact that Fletcher was seen as a very talented player in our youth setup

This lad has always been seen as bang average at youth level
Literally got his chance because he's 6′ 4″

Fergie tried to give fletch his debut at 15 iirc but the F. A wouldn't allow it

A total stranger (female) sat next to me on the tube just looked at me in about 2006 and said "the Scottish player" doing this once.

Can't even remember how she knew i was a united fan. I didn't demur.

Solid player, would like to see him get a run of games if we ship out old lads and Fred doesn't make it....

Plays the holding role allowing Pogba to get forward ..

Could turn out to be a shrewd bit of business

Sure she hadn’t been to watch Macbeth?

gets a lot of criticism but people speak as if they expect him to be a permanent starter or something.

could be a solid option to bring off the bench.

I've just seen that he's 22 I honestly thought he was about 18 or something.

Christ! what the hell are we doing giving him a 5 year contract? Mental... just absolutely crazy.

He's not even remotely good enough.

Think there were even some Beckham comparisons at one stage

Took Fletch a good long while to come 'good' and I'm not totally sure it was worth the wait tbh.

I've got my doubts but to be fair to the lad he has been messed around. Played at CB because he's tall FFS.

But he/United need to settle on a position he's going to be played in if needed. He's not got the skill to be a creative type (say Pogba) so is he going to be a defensive player like Matic (let's face it we don't have any cover for Matic) or an all action running around type like Herrera? Seems to me the best option for the team is to develop in the Matic role. Let's hope he gets the coaching he needs to step up a level.

He was excellent when part of a central 3 with little creative responsibility. Could have used him in Rome.

Not good enough to be a player with the main creative responsibility, which he had increasing amounts of afterwards, or a winger
