Default Robin van Persie says Rene Meulensteen is £#%&!ing brilliant

& he's never been fitter

Quote:
“The way he (Meulensteen) trains is an exceptional,” Van Persie said.“He is truly one of the best coaches in the world. I have had a lot of good trainers, but it’s the way he prepares our team for games. Every match is different, so every training session in the build-up to games is unique.
“We know exactly what to expect and he wins points for us through his training. We’ve won a lot of games by the odd goal and they are point winners, which we train for. For instance, against Chelsea I scored after a low cross from Antonio Valencia on the right. It might seem a fluke, but the whole week before the game was spent working on that move.
“Another example is my goal against Wigan, when I cut the ball inside and shot with my right foot. Again this situation, we trained on.

“Training is really good. It’s a very pleasant environment to work in.” Speaking to the Dutch television station NOS, Van Persie claims that he has become a better player since leaving the Emirates for Old Trafford.
“Every day I work on new things,” Van Persie said. “I become alert to small details that make me better. I go into work every day whistling. From the first day, they have made me feel welcome, the boys made me feel right at home.
“I feel better and fitter. In the last week, I played Wednesday and Saturday. In those games I played with ease.”

maybe mullers is getting the flack because of his association with phelan. Maybe people looked at them both and said the emission of total and utter incompetance is evenly distributed?
say if incompetence is a bucket of shit. They were churning out 20 buckets a week.

But phelan must be responsible for all 20 buckets.

either that or it's saf.

All those compliments and he's overlooked the fact that no coach tells Tony V to use his left foot!

Maybe they do tell Tony V to use his left foot but he's hard of hearing or doesn't know his left from his right. Could even be a language thing and he often seems confused because he knows that when he's running towards the opponents goal with the ball, Rene & Mickey keep telling him to leave his eggy bread for the fox.

I've said it all along that Rene is a genius. The problem has always been Fergie.

Tbh he lost it ages ago and now seems completely clueless, but the worst thing is he has now developed a streak of cowardice, demonstrated most grotesquely at The Etihad last season, the constant selection of Valencia, and the reluctance to push youth ahead of ancient antiques like Giggs and Scholes.

If you actually look back, the style of play was only really good when Queiroz was here, as Fergie played second fiddle to the Portuguese, especially with Ronaldo at United. Fergie probably planned to play Ronaldo at left-back until Queiroz taught him how to utilise his strengths. If you think about it, old whiskey nose was clueless to Ronaldo's ability when it was staring him straight in the face during that game against Sporting; it was the players who had to tell him to sign Ronnie. "C'mon boss he's really good, honest".

Before Ronaldo we dominated with the '99 team, but that was a side that fell into Fergie's lap with Beckam, Scholes, Butt, the Nevilles etc all coming through the youth system. He basically hit the lottery with those players. If anything, Kidd and McLaren should have statues outside Old Trafford just for standing up to Fergie's stubbornness. A new 'Trinity' of Kidd, McLaren and Queiroz would have been good, but the truth has been swept under the carpet, largely because Fergie panders to the owners.

Ferguson has also got comfortable in recent years and with Phelan he's got the perfect patsy - it's like having Mr Burns and Smithers in charge of United, and we're seeing the results of nobody challenging authority.
