I imagine that when he was wandering off he finally realised why he was never good enough to play for Manchester United. Coming back as the captain of another mid-table side and being outclassed 6-0 must make you realise you're never quite going to make it...

smith was a decent lad when at utd. not the best player but always had a good attitude, i've no problem clapping him

i agree, his team were robbed of a legit goal, then got spanked in the 2nd half, no wonder he didnt clap back
