Bearing in mind United didn't reach the last 4 of the CL final or win the league, how have they increased their profit up to £100 million? Genuine question.

I was looking at the accounts at 9am this morning and I read it as 82 million profit. Shows I am not an accountant.

Impressive that in these straightened times merchandise, conferences and catering would seem to not only be holding up but increasing in worth.

It is understood the results will reveal that the club's operating profits topped £100m for the first time, thanks to increased matchday, broadcasting and commercial revenues.

The document shows an operating profit of only 14,612,000 (Page 9)

So where does this 100 million operating profit number come from ?

What you've got to remember is that these huge losses have in no way hindered our transfer dealings.

This will happen again next year and the year after that until the club is hollowed out to the extent that there is nothing left for the Glazer's to leech - at which point they'll walk away leaving the wreckage.

Of course, with millions of outraged United supporters (voters) you will see politicians queuing up to back legislation stopping this happening again - too late for us of course.

Champions League money went up last season, as did ticket prices. Think we got the bulk of our new AON sponsorship upfront too.

Just think what we could do if we were debt free? Could easily build two more quadrants and re-build the South Stand (as was the PLC’s plan pre-takeover).

It’s £#%&!ing heartbreaking what these @#%&!s are doing to our Club

If you read through the last few pages of this very thread you'll (hopefully) understand why the reported accounting loss isn't very relevant. It's largely made up of non-cash expenses that haven't cost the club a thing.

The most interesting revelation by far is that the owners haven't taken either their carve-out or a dividend, that and that EBITDA is higher than expected indicating a very good growth-rate through recession.
Net debt reduced to £350m, cash reserves(for players) risen to £163m. EVERYTHING IS FINE. We're gonna sign Buffon, Sneijder and Aguero next summer!
