Default Scholes replacement

What do you reckon to Ronney replacing Scholes?
He's got it all to be a great attacking midfielder.
He can pass, tackle, good engine and can score goals.

With Berbs and the pea up front.

This. When he first broke into the Everton team and his first season at United I thought he might be able to do just that, not now though.

Sad, but he's just not good enough

im sure he could play there and play well. but tbh we'd be much better off with a class midfielder (modric?) and rooney up top scoring goals again

Exactly. As I said in the Berbatov thread I think we need someone in there with a good first touch and a creative brain, someone who is comfortable on the ball in tight areas and who keeps it.

I dont think Rooney fits that bill

Shame

No. It's pushing it just using him in the hole.

why didn't we keep Eikrem?

'too slight'. unlike the behemoth Modric.

OK I only saw him couple of times but he looked a cracking prospect.

Just sign Schneider and De Rossi and we're sorted. Simple.

We have some sort of buy back clause on him.

it is silly to make ajudgement based off this season. the lad clearly is struggling to regain form which is probably in part because he is "sleeping in the spare bed". Saying that from what hhe has shown in his career to date there is little to say that he would fit straight into a midfield role. However when mentally fit, IMO, he does have the capability to step up and play in that position. If Smith can Rooney can.
