Default Man Utd star: 'I'm half the player I can be under Van Gaal'

An anonymous Manchester United player has told Telegraph football journalist Jason Burt he is “half the player he can be under manager Louis van Gaal”.

Burt explained how the unnamed player does not feel the current playing style at the club is "fair on him or the fans”.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p0395tc9

Not good if one of our senior players feels that badly about our manager to say that to a journo.

Must be true tbf, Burty is usually bang on and definitely doesn't have any kind of grudge against United....

If he's been labelled as anonymous it must be Rooney.

What a shit story btw.

Sounds like one of the younger players so rules out Rooney, Carrick and Schweinsteiger. Rooney would get half the minutes under someone else.

Was thinking Schneiderlin since he's been a bit of a plod with the ball but then he's new so doubt he'd have a grudge to hold now. Must be someone who was here before Van Gaal but still has his best years ahead of him.

Therefore my investigative skills point towards Juan Mata. He's certainly been half the player he was at Chelsea here and he must be pissed off an under performing team mate get a free ride by the manager to stake the main position and that he's also the guy brought off as first sub almost always.

Plus his United career was heading down the gutter until Di Maria got sent off allowing him to get back in the side albeit on the right wing.

An anonymous source = 70% chance it is made up by a lazy £#%&!er who writes about football for a wage.

But writers never disclose their sources

Rooney. What he fails to mention is he's been half the player he could've been for half a £#%&!ing decade.

It's probably true. But that's football, never are all the players happy and certainly if they're out of form as this one obviously is. Also, things are said in the heat of the moment. Not an issue until the players don't want to play for the manager. Patently not the case atm.

Would presumably be an English player or one who has been here a while to be this pally with journos.

Yes.

Btw even if the quote is genuine it's quite ambiguous. It could be interpreted as saying van Gaal sees the bloke's potential that hasn't been fulfilled yet... and even this @#%&! admits himself that the spin in the article is all his own work.

No, that was Martin Lipton

Last time someone was feeding lines like this was during the international break when all relevant journos were with the England camp. Same person? Doesn't have to be malicious, just naive. But either way, this talk happens at every club in the world.

What a load of %@#$&!s

Journo's are thick, self-serving @#%&!s. They trawl sites like this to get the gist of an idea & then just plant some anonymous pile of shit story in the papers the day after a poor result.

Voilá, the manager is under pressure & they have their story.

nailed on its Depay. He came from Holland where he was the superstar and now plays and gets subbed or is on the bench from the start.

He is struggling and he is naïve enough to talk to a reporter.
