Agreed, but if he plays, who doesn't?

Be interesting to see if he plays tonight, if Fellaini does and he doesn't it probably tells us all we need to know.

fwiw I don't hate Fellaini like most on here do

The arse seeing over this lad's inclusion (or not) in the first team after two games is a bit much tbh. United have superb midfield options and it's up to him to force the manager's hand. Played well when he came on against (an admittedly tiring) Villa. Keep that up and he'll be starting on reg, nqat.

Truth. Absolutely our best midfielder.

Exactly. We have a good balance in the team at the minute. He got a good 30 minutes under his belt on Friday when we switched to a pure 433. We'll see a lot more of that as the season progresses.

A much better option than Mata, imo. Mata gets knocked off the ball too easily.

Came on against Villa and gave the ball to a Villa forward, completely unforced, could well have led to a goal against a better side.

I doubt Freg would have given two shits but Van Gaal is a stickler.

Also had Hoek doing his nut on the sideline for some positional shenanigans.

Only see him getting regular starts if we return to 4-3-3. I think Van Gaal sees him as a liability in a 2 man midfield because of his lack of discipline. Don't see him being used as an attacking option in either a 4-4-2 or a 4-2-3-1 either, wouldn't suit him in a wide role and Van Gaal has stated he prefers a second striker to an attacking midfielder in any number 10 type role.

I think Herrera is a superb player and would much prefer we went back to a 4-3-3 to accommodate him, a midfield 3 picked from Schneiderlen, Schweinsteiger, Carrick and Herrera with back up from Blind and Fellaini.

Front 3 picked from Depay, Rooney, Mata and Pedro assuming the transfer finally happens, with back up from Hernandez, J@&%!aj, Pereira, Young and Wilson.

Really believe with a 4-3-3 and those options we could actually be entertaining and challenge.

The way Van Gaal had a moan at ball losses probably explains why he isn't starting. Unfortunately.

Already been explained.

Look, everybody loves the lad. He's full of energy, tackles, goals even.

Van Gaal played him loads of times last season but he's clearly trying to keep things tight early doors and wants to blood the new signings.

He'll either be an impact sub this season or he'll make himself indispensable and force someone else out. The latter won't happen while he's coming on and losing the ball.

Unfortunately he's the easiest player to drop.

Carrick will play as many games as the club thinks he can.

Schneiderlin is the midfielder we've been claiming we need for years. He protects the defence in a way Herrera can't. He'll play pretty much every minute this season.

Mata cost £42m and was a vanity signing. He'll play more games then he doesn't.

If Pedro signs you'd imagine he'd do so on some assurance that he will play most games.

Should be plenty of games to go around this year, with a proper run in the CL

Lots of games domestically where we can cope with one holding midfielder with Mata and Herrera making up the midfield 3.

Won’t wet the sheets until I see Fellaini starting ahead of Herrera

They're on stand by
But don't think Fellaini will start this one, due to LVG's match fitness policy.
