Is this %@#$&!s then? Sorry can't format but appears to show we do spend, just on crap or unsuitable. It's not the money, it's how it's been spent by our piss poor senior management

So that table is a lie? we haven't spent more than anyone else since 2012?

As you said yourself "They give big wages out, stupidly so, that’s why they don’t want to sign the number of players required."

And cancelo was too expensive at 20 m but we buy AWB for 50m

You cannot genuinely say we do not spend the money, my point is that it all goes on the wrong players at the wrong times who then get massively inflated pay deals etc

The football side of things has been a total shambles since Fergie and Gill left, that is why we are in such a £#%&!ing mess now, not because we don't spend

It’s to do with how the money is to be spent. They’re happy to drop £90m on a Pogba or a Lukaku etc. due to the marketing and attention it generates, they won’t get involved in a tussle for De Bruyne at £55m, as he was a kid with potential and they’d have to bid against City, who can pay the fee in one go.

City sign Sterling and KdB for £105m, we sign Pogba. Looks like we’ve spent a shit ton of money, but it’s not really, they’ll earn it back through marketing and whatnot and pay it over 6 years.

Smoke and mirrors.

Yep. It’s reactive spending too. Biggest spends are usually after our worst seasons (apart from this one). It’s done in fear of missing out on CL revenue. When we show a little promise, we spend less. Most big spends are correcting mistakes, not progressing any one managers project. As much as I didn’t like Jose for us, he got absolutely shafted after the season we finished second. Van Gaal never seemed to get what he wanted. Now ETH is having the same old ‘work with what you’ve got’ problems and what we’ve got isn’t good enough.

net spend is %@#$&!s anyway (as is ignoring the timing). and where has the money come from?

always, though, as we saw when we dominated - it's not simply a question of chucking money around. we've made a series of very expensive mistakes.

Dunk we spend the money
That isn’t smoke and mirrors

Everyone does structured deals, we’re not unique in that regard

We’ve spent enough money to compete to win PLs and CLs
That is indisputable

The reality is we’ve wasted a colossal amount of money
No top club in the history of football has been run as badly and made as many bad decisions as our club has since Fergie and Gill retired

I’m afraid to say it’s not going to change as we still have jobs for boys appointments in Arnold and Murtough running the show

Again, you will understand it or you won’t

The money is spent in a shitty fashion because there are strict rules to the spending of it. Were we just given a billion and told ‘buy the best players’ I’d be fuming at the shitty job, but that clearly isn’t the case.

Quote:
According to Simon Stone, the Martinez deal was lower than reported, it was £49m with £10m add ons.

So £49m, £13m and free transfer in.

Wages around £120k, £60k, £150k

Total wages in £17.2m

Outgoings since last May.

Sales

Pereira £8m

So £54m net spend,

Now the interesting part.

Players out on loan or free.

Pogba £280k
Cavani £250k
Mata £80k
Matic £120k
Lingard £100k
Telles £65k
Henderson £120k
Pereira £60k

Total wages out of the club.

£57.1m

So that’s a £40m net reduction in wages since last May.

So suddenly £54m becomes £14m

Oh….let’s not forget, The Glazers have a clause in players contracts if they miss CL football, it’s a 25% wage cut.

So let’s just pick three at random

Ronaldo £500k down to £375,000
De Gea £375k down to £281,000
Bruno £250k down to £187,500

Add them together you’ve saved £281,000 a week

What’s that equate to well stunningly that equates to £14m a year.

It’s almost like the Utd haven’t actually spent a penny this year and are actually in profit and doing it through subtle accountancy that people don’t look into.

This is the truth, that was just 3 players, nevermind Martial, Rashford, Varane, Maguire, Sancho.

They’ve all taken 25% wage cuts too.

So the glazers are realistically about £40m in net profit on this window with all costs considered.

That’s what we are dealing with
‘We spend money though…’

Smoke and mirrors.

I honestly don’t know what the f*** you’re on about
Money is money

They’re not signing players with Monopoly money
Paying transfer fees in instalments and with add-ons is standard practice for all football clubs

We want to spend 75 million on FDJ but the f***er doesn’t want to sign
We’ve also had one of the biggest wage bills in world football over the last few years

We’ve spent a billion pounds on transfers terribly because we have people running the club who have no idea what they are doing
We have a squad made up of 4 managers different players, 4 managers with completely different views on how football should be played

Utd is a case study in how not to run a football club

The haphazard spending hasn’t even been recognised by the club yet.
This summers spending against the background of our missing out on CL looking to rebuild.
A backup lb and a diminutive cb from a lower league is more money wasted.
Who knew appointing the bean counters bean counter wouldn’t signal a change of direction.

Sounds like the rumours of it being Rabiot and Gakpo or Frenkie could be true.

Apparently if we signed FDJ that would “swallow up” our transfer budget and more signings would depend on the owners “loosening the purse strings”

If they don’t make top 4 next year will be a proper shitshow. It will make this year look like one of the best transfer windows ever
