We’ve actually done it reasonably well, we’ve had them scrambling in defence several times, but our final pass has been awful.

1-0 is probably fair, but we could easily have bagged a couple ourselves with better decision making.

£#%&! me what a save
This. Only a joke of a penalty separates the teams.
Just wish we weren’t so nervy and frankly stupid when in possession near their box.

Fantastic save there.

Mainoo on at HT. Garnacho after 65. We can get something on the break here but they get a second and it could get ugly.

Any semblance of fairness in the game has gone. If anyone behind the car screen has an axe to grind, or has been paid off, will be able to find a penalty or two every single game, while turning a blind eye to something similar, or worse, at the other end. VAR is a betting syndicate’s wet dream.

Did anyone think that today was a penalty in real time?

Yep.

Why can't managers/clubs have a discussion about what's given and why others that are just the same or worse, aren't? I'm not being Scouse but it is ruining the game.

We've seen about 6 incidents like Garnacho vs Spurs and there's been a lot of different outcomes. It's £#%&!ing sickening.

Still don’t get why we can’t go toe to toe with city.

Arsenal did.

We are spending money and have a coach who is meant to be a tactician so why can’t we take it to them as well especially at home.

How much money do we need to spend to actually play football and keep the ball?

Even this egg agrees it was harsh

Stones with a foul on Rassers when he broke through…. Nothing.

Stay in this and we have a decent bench for a late push

We did ok there imo.

We’re never going toe to toe with them and we’ve got in behind them a few times. Got to take your chances and we haven’t done that.

The penalty is a penalty, but it’s not a clear and obvious error that VAR should be playing on a loop 48 thousand times. If that’s the standard, then ok, but we all know we’ll see the same or worse not given or even looked at in the future.

Crucial we got in at 1-0.

This was never going to be pretty and we just need to keep hanging in there at 1-0 and take any chances we get.

if we can get the ball in their box reckon we'll get a soft pen to even it up

We got a soft one in the cup final. City's penalty was us settling that bill.

The problem is the rank inconsistencies. If the ref gave it in real time I'd think it's soft but it wouldn't get overturned. That's fair.

But the fact that VAR went back to review it on its own accord means it should now do it on every set piece in every game and award penalties for something like that. But they don't and they won't. So why the £#%&! have they done it there? That's where it takes the utter piss for me. That borders on looking for reasons to award a penalty.

If one of their defenders pulled out a gun and shot one of our players in the box, it would be called ‘a coming together’ and we would be reduced to ten men as our dead player would have to be dragged off the pitch for a shirt change because of the blood.

Because they are. But only sometimes. That’s the problem.

Mount on for Amrabat

Going with no midfield is brave.
