The top end sets the market rate. As soon as Enzo Fernandes goes for 100 mil. Every centre mid is now quoted as being in that region.

Same as Van Dijk. As soon as he goes for 75 mil then that’s the jump off point for any half decent centre half. As soon as Kyle Walker goes for 50 mil then every full back is judged by that. And on and on we go.
