Say what you like about Valencia but he's easily good enough as cover at right back.

With the squad as it stands we're very dependant on Smalling and Rooney have fantastic seasons. Smalling has started well so we have to hope he keeps fit. Rooney looks miles off the pace.

Look at the squad under moyes and look at it right now with over £200m spent. Is that much better? Central midfield looks boxed off, everywhere else?

Yeah, I don't think it needs to be vastly experienced player, but a Griezmann would make such a difference to the immediate optimism.
