Default England's best XI for the WC

Yes this is a thread for the England team. Me, I support England, I watch England, I follow England, I cheer when they score. If you are not like minded and have no interest, rather than post 'dont care' or something similar just £#%&! off to a different thread.

Hart

Johnson Jagielka Cahill Baines

Gerrard Milner

Barkley

Rooney Sturridge Wellbeck

If I had everyone fit and still able to pick the squad I would replace Johnson with Walker, Milner with Carrick, move Rooney to the left and swap Walcott for Wellbeck.

Not much to play with really, don't particularly want Henderson in there, but given Gerrards legs have gone then it's necessary to have a bit of pace in there or teams will run straight past them.

Milner isn't ideal either but Johnson is a liability and I don't fancy watching a United player getting skinned playing out of position.

May even be tempted to play Wilshere over Barkley in the first game and play 4-3-3 as a draw will be good enough but a defeat leaves a lot to do.

Oh for such dilemmas. Wilshere or Barkley? We've got to worry about whether to pick a nobody from the Austrian or the Chinese league to line up alongside Mile Jedinak against Xavi and Iniesta.

Good team that, although I'm torn on Milner v Henderson on the 'legs' in midfield. Rate Milner more but Henderson and Gerrard have the experience together.

I'd have Sterling raring to go off the bench too, along with Lampard if a goal is needed.

Honestly got nobody else on the bench I'd truist to come on and score a goal.

FYI - same here. I enjoy seeing England do well.

I wouldn't be surprised if England are the only side in the entire tournament to turn up without a holding midfielder :shakehead:

Yeah, instead let's have a near 34-year-old on his last legs who has the football intelligence of a turd.
