According to SAF and Gill the money 'is there' its just that Ozil wasn't worth the 'valuation' bearing in mind we had Cleverley in our squad!
I'm not "moving the goalposts" for anybody

Even at the time SAF refused to deny he was interested in Ozil (unlike others we were linked with, such as Snejder) Since then he has confirmed we *were* in for a certain player.......

And despite what certain clueless journos think, I doubt that it was Villa

More or less I suppose. I'd be a lot happier if he said, "I wanted to buy this summer because our key players aren't getting any younger & I want us to be competetive in Europe, but unfortunately the funds aren't available at the moment" ...a bit of defiant honesty from the great man.

As it is, playing the 'no value' card for the second summer running & then using emotional blackmail by playing the 'Youth' card (before promptly loaning out the youngsters) was pretty hard to stomach.

We looked clueless last night against an awful side, much like Leeds United last season. We haven't improved the squad since then (Valencia's untimely injury means it's even worse) ...it's hard to see how we can improve on last season.

It was James Beattie. He chose Rangers cos he wanted to win something.

Rooney was the least of our problems last night.
Our midfield & the lack of quality out wide (including fullbacks) was far more apparent.

Ronnie's having a 'mare again, his form is Rooney-esque.

Speaking of form.... Messi has scored (I think) 94 in his last 109 games I read earlier

Ozil is making him and Higuain look bad.

Now Ron is getting whistled as he was aT the weekend, but he's so desperate to score that he's not really thinking about what he's doing at times.

his ability to do the simple things so easily, & his pace & touch are different class.

Knew it would be like this.

Di Maria doesn't look all that in comparison tbf.

I have to give some credit to Safingtons for this one, he'd been raving about him for ages.
