Football Games United didn't deserve a result in...but got one

0-0 at the Nou Camp in 2008

I know Ron missed a pen but other than that I don't think we ventured past the halfway line.

Home leg was a similar story as well.

Bayern '99 is the obvious one. We really didn't play well.

More recently the Spurs game stands out.

Definitely two that came to mind when I started the thread, but when I checked the stats for the 99 final, United had more shots, more shots on target and more possession. I guess you really can prove anything with stats. I thought it was best if someone else mention Spurs.

Another one I thought of was a 2-2 at Villa Park about 10 year ago. United were rotten for most of it, but a typical late surge and goals from Macheda and Vidic got us the draw.

Finish

At least half of the games Mourinho presided over

Should've had at least one more pen in that IIRC.

Yeah that was more of a penalty than the one given Also Barsa didn't really pepper our goal. The home game they had more chances, but then they were chasing then. Wasn't that undeserved.

Wouldn't have said Spurs either, we dominated the first half, scored a good goal, and Spurs can only blame themselves.

Vague memories of one against Ipswich in the run in in 01 where a late dodgy penalty van Nistelrooy put away to scrape a draw was about our only chance

That's my recollection too.

Newcastle 0-1. Cantona scored, they peppered our goal all game

That 3-1 at Arsenal last season in which we managed about 28% possession and got out of our half once in over 70 minutes (and scored ) was pretty baffling tbh.

Bit like this one tbf, just one less goal scored

Although iirc Di Maria missed an easy chance late on?

8-2 vs Arse.

If it wasn’t for Nanners’ “showboating” they wouldn’t have been traumatised and would’ve won 0-11.

Would say we were luckier in the second leg against Barca, if they'd taken one of their chances late on it would have been curtains. As others have mentioned though, should have had another penalty in the first leg (and them down to 10?)

Nanners' showboating in a Cup game four years earlier

I know this won't go down well, but I honestly thought the 12-0 win over aston villa and the 9-0 victory vs the london bees in this season's women's campaign were absolute flukes.

My first thought.

They battered us to death, Schmeichel had an absolute barnstormer then we picked their pocket.

A less obvious one is 3-0 against Liverpool at Old Trafford under Van Gaal. We had at least one offside goal, De Gea was magnificent and Sterling missed about a million chances.

Suprised no ones mentioned Red Star Belgrade yet either. Completely outclassed us and lost.
