Correct. Even at Ipswich you could tell he was a different class.

And correct. Carrick was a major catalyst in us regaining our primacy in the Premier league after three years of watching Arsenal then Chelsea surplant us. One of the most underrated players I've ever seen in his prime. You only need to listen to players he played with to know. I get that they all teabag each other in interviews anyway, but in Carrick's case I believe it's utterly genuine.

Those moaning that we had moved on from buying this type of player when we bought Carrick, the playmaking and more technical jobs will be undertaken by Pogba and Herrera. Again a midfield is about balance ffs. Jaysis H Biscuits it's not that hard to understand is it?

Even Remi doesn't think he was as good as Carrick.

Carrick played very well at Wembley in '11 until giving Nani that hospital pass for Villa's goal.

The fact he was paired in a two with Giggs just because it had worked against Schalke was a bigger cause of our problems. The tactics for that final were utterly inept. I think even Rio admits that quite often these days, which suggests the players weren't convinced.

I love Giggs but he shouldn't have stated that final and neither should Hernandez.

Rooney should have been the centre forward with scholes coming in for Giggs and Nani for Hernandez with park being played centrally like in the 4-0 against Milan a year earlier and Nani on the left.

Would have been more balanced and composure in the middle and a better contest.

Still think we would likely lose as that was a great team in its prime but I just remember Hernandez being caught offsides about 8 times in the first half.

A great sub and viable starter against 60 percent of teams but Hernandez shouldn't of started that final.

Similar in the way they always make themselves available and one touch stuff but Muhren was more mobile and attacking.

Three of those six for sure. Muhren and Ince debatable. Whiteside is pushing it a bit for CM pal..

Absolutely no way Wilkins or Muhren were.

You can say it's in your opinion, but you could say that about anyone. Think you'll struggle to find many on here who would agree with all eight of those.
Carrick = 34 caps 0 goals ,total goals career 27 ,Muhren 23 caps 3 goals total goals 105 ,Wilkins 84 caps 3 goals total goals 49 . both Muhren and Wilkins were much better ball players than Carrick ,obviously less trophies but Carrick joined a very successful club the others didn't . they said Wilkins was like a crab sideways or backwards but notice the goals 49 compared to 27 ,so whats that saying about Carrick ??? Muhren was a master footballer and he joined Utd well into his 30's and made a difference.

It says that he isn't a goalscorer. Which he isn't. Not sure how that equates to him being better or worse than Wilkins.

The fact you're leading an argument for a United midfielder with England caps isn't a great start.

Steve Bruce was never capped. Does that make every centre half who has been capped better than him ?
