I just remember how £#%&!ed Di Maria looked in the second half of games when we played the diamond with Mata in the side. With Herrera probably not 100% I think we need someone like Rooney with some physicality next to him. Valencia another option.

Having said that, Rooney is buzzing atm so there's a strong case for wanting him as near to the goal as possible.

He may have faded when played more centrally, but he contributed more. He seems less productive further forward... also what you said about Rooney, couldn't agree more, we need to be taking advantage if he really is up for it as he seems.

“I think it’s time for people to step up,” said Shaw. “The players who are not getting game time, who are frustrated on the bench, can come in for a massive game like Arsenal that everyone will want to play in.

“We know we’ve picked up a lot of injuries, especially in defence, where it’s always changing each time. We’ve obviously picked up another injury with Daley Blind, but we’ve got to deal with that and try to get around this week and go firing into the Arsenal game.

“Everyone will be working hard and focusing on this weekend and come Saturday we’ll be ready to go.”
