Whatever happens you don't want Apollo Global Management coming in.

Pretty much the same model as the Glazer's (leveraging the club) and sucking it dry by taking out dividends. They are an investment firm.

The owner is another billionaire pauper (probably friends with the Glazers) that would help prop them up, and keep them as owners.

I suspect this is the Glazer's next move to keep their claws in the club, and who they will sell to.

I can’t for the life of me understand why they’d rather hang on and take £30m a year or whatever rather than cash out for £5-6bn

The only thing that makes sense is that if they cash out they have to settle debts secured and it’ll leave them around break even. Whereas they hang on and everything pays for each other and they take dividends and get richer

The Glazers have ruthlessly exploited sponsorship so difficult to see there's much more to be made there with the state of the club. The ESL or individual TV rights would be a growth area but neither seems likely in the short term.

Maybe it's a way to flush out potential bidders?
This is what I think.

Surely the protest would go into overdrive now if they don’t actually sell?…

They’re business people and surely they know now is the time to cash in, because we’re in a nose dive on the pitch and that will dictate everything else.

You're not taking into account the ego of these men. Narcissistic billionaires. In their eyes they are infallible, and will believe they can fix the problems, as opposed to accepting defeat and selling up.

There is also the idea that Daddy Malcolm engineered the purchase of United as a long-term family heirloom, which could be passed down the Glazer generations.

Joel, Avram and the other siblings won't want to be seen as the generation that sold up Daddy Malcolm's prized possession.

United fans will have to really battle to win back the soul of the club from these vultures. Mass protests are needed.

Industrial/logistics land there is worth about £2m an acre. Not sure how much they own in total - 100 acres maybe? Probably more actually.

Would be almost impossible to realise it’s full value though. And it’s value as a stadium and car parking will be less.

It’s significant in book value terms but not particularly realisable imv as nobody (even the tories) would consent to old Trafford being pulled down to build an Amazon RDC. They’d have to provide an alternative stadium elsewhere - like Carrington - which would never be consented because the infrastructure is shite. Etc etc

It’s paper value only in other words.

£5bn is an incredible return and it would take them generations to realise that sort of cash through ownership.

Ian King - finance expert on sky news - seems surprisingly pessimistic about this happening

They’ve just done a feature on it

Thinks it’s a long way off

I agree - if it’s going to happen it’s going to be a very long and drawn out process

But what else will they get through selling other than piles of cash?

They clearly value the status that comes with owning one of the world's most prized sporting institutions.

It will be a priceless dinner party conversation topic when they're rubbing shoulders with their fellow billionaires in Florida.

Well the pitch is owned separately by the Chelsea Pitch Owners Association, a structure designed to prevent property development, so maybe not.

Chelsea tried to buy it back but it needs 75% of shareholders to agree, not that easy given the way voting rights are set up.

This lot are never selling out, they got the biggest sporting club/brand in the world for nothing, nothing utd will still pull millions as long as football does and they will be around to suck it all up - glazereds

Still blame fergal for all this, one statement from him would have sunk their horrible bid, but he went to Miami and was bought in.

Fair play to the twitter reds, they bombarded the @#%&!s to the point they had to block all comments on their entire history of posts.
