Be funny seeing Woodward’s shitfaced grin when he signs it like he’s pulled off signing Ronaldinho in his prime.

I like Ole but will he be supported in the transfer market? Probably not.

Would any manager given we're now skint?

Very much felt like we had to sacrifice Lukaku to get anyone in.

Probably not.

Compare our squad to the team above us and it’s quite easy to see why they’re competing for 4 competitions and we’re competing for one.

The Lukaku money is likely to have been used to sign Maguire.

Woodward and co. will make out that the club are progressing because we’re 2nd in the league and we’ve ‘secured’ the services of the manager for a few more season...

In reality the teams around us have had serious dips in form, next season we will be easily out of the top 4 if we don’t invest;assuming that we’re just happy with pocketing champions league money and not seriously arsed about competing for trophies.

I expect the manager will be even more explicit this summer about what he expects in the transfer market than he was a year ago.

Of course, Woody and the suits could £#%&! him over again - but that would be more of a risk with crowds returning to games.

Risk ffs. They don't give a flying £#%&! about the fans.

They'll do what they always do.

Woodward wouldn't have given two £#%&!s about that. All that shite trying to paint this image of him and his missus cowering indoors like the £#%&!ing Purge was just a way to get sympathy points in the press and get his mates like Lineker to paint him as a victim.

The protests in 2005 and around 2010 were as big and volatile as anything i've seen and it's made absolutely no difference whatsoever to anything they do. They sit in Florida and continue to run the club into the ground.

The only thing they'd understand is what this pandemic has shown - a catastrophic drop in matchday revenue, the likes of which we've never seen. And even then they still manage to give themselves a nice little wedge.

People said this last season as the team just about got over the line. There's been big progress since. Other teams may have had serious dips in form or it could be they have already peaked as good as they could get whereas our squad which is among the youngest have more gears to go. Ole can only control what is in front of him and one away domestic defeat in 15 months, a club record of unbeaten away games, beating big teams across his tenure, rebounding after a bad start to the season. He has shown he can ride out the bad spells and build a squad in the image of the teams he played in.

We’ve had huge dips too, both in performance and results, we gave everyone a massive head start ffs. We’re still ahead of them all.

Credit where it’s due obviously, my point is that it will probably be a lot different next season.

Chelsea seem to be back on track with Tuchel and the scousers will probably fix their poor form and have Van Diyk back.

The manager wasn’t backed properly last summer after getting us in the CL, does that mean that we’ll make up for it this summer? Will we £#%&!.

If he gets us top four then it's back to back CL qualification since Fergie. Progress in anyone's book (barring a couple of, as Alf Stewart would say, great galahs on here) and a legitimate reason to invest further in the squad.

Whatever we invest, I cannot see us catching City because they will outspend us without fear of reprisal from an already stronger squad position. The right investment in the squad (inbound and outbound) and there's no reason we shouldn't be able to challenge them properly and cement second place though.

It's basic accounting.

We know what we have coming in, we know what we are spending.

Only clubs that get a full fee are the ones we give it to

Ole needs to have a seriously keen eye on who he wants to bring in & make a difference. We've seen with Bruno it can be a player in the "middle" of the pack - he wasn't cheap but he cost less than Pepe, Lukaku, Di Maria, Havertz, Morata, Jorginho, Pulisic etc.

Almost half the cost of Pogba ffs, it's not about finding the biggest name & chasing them, it's finding a £#%&!ing good player in a position we need to fill with character & talent. Obviously.

Ole deserves his contract, but he needs to do something more next season IF he gets his players this summer because you can't go another year without really challenging for the league. Just the way it is.

I disagree to a point. If we invested in our squad it would get to the point where they would only be signing the biggest names in world football and filling their squad with players of a similar ability.

We don’t have the resources or ambition to do that obviously.

A start would be to invest in the defence. Sign a top quality CB to partner Maguire and find someone to challenge Wan Bissaka.
