He was an absolute top boy. At least the equal of Schmeichel and nowhere near as big a #@&%!.

part of me wanted that but its best that he goes at the absolute top.

hopefully that is lifting the cup at wembley.

perfect send off, clearly. but he doesn't look anywhere near past it, or even if he's on the verge of showing his age. legend

I think that's the frustrating part, for me. He looks as good now as he ever has.

Hadn't he had rather a torrid time there, and the pundit consensus was that he was all washed up??

Instead, going to Fulham re-sparked his career

£#%&!ing disastrous for us, his retirement, can't think of a single VDS weakness.

PIG is like an english goalie. Weak minded.

Will we start with that kid we bought? Or blow our entire transfer budget on an established keeper?

Problem is he will show his age at some point, inevitably. We can get away with keeping Scholes and Giggs even though they are always at risk of 'doing a neville', because we have the players to replace them. If all of a sudden his body gave up on him half way through the season, we would be £#%&!ed. It's impossible to have the replacement and edwin in the squad at the same time, so on that basis you have to take a gamble on when to make the switch. It seems he is quite happy to go out on top and we have someone lined up, so him going suits all parties. Fitting to end with a European Cup Final.

Buffon for 3-4 years would prob be the ideal transition.

This is a real worry.

This is the problem. It's all very well saying he should stay for another year and help the new addition bed in, but neither will want to sit on the bench for even half a season. De Gea won't come if VDS stays and if Utd have identified him as his successor, then they risk missing out on him if they wait. Bit of a catch 22. It's an issue with having a good back-up keeper too. If they're good enough to be back up for us, then they're good enough to be number one somewhere else.
