Resale value probably?

Or

Cheaper to give him a new contract than buy a replacement?

Whatever the reason it’ll be down to making/saving money for the club (glazers).

We've said that about many players over the years and they are still here.

Yup. Stick them on 3 x the wages anyone else will pay them to ensure they stay unless we want them to leave, at which point we cash in on the resale fee. Been a winning strategy nqat

Chelsea game next. He does get under their skins, maybe his new contract will say we're only keeping him for those games. I'd be fine with that.

As for Herrera I had hopes for the lad but most of the time he lacks any %@#$&!s on the ball
First thought is to play the ball backwards....Keano and Scholes would have killed him

Signing all the symbols of our mediocrity up to long term contracts at wages way beyond what anyone else would pay them. Young, Valencia, Mata, Herrera, Fellaini. I could go on.

I believe the Harvard business school had a module on Fergie's management technique as part of their MBA - soon they'll be offering a module on United post Fergie as an example of mismanagement.

Unfortunately true.

You can blame the manager - any of them - all you like but we are not only too tight to spend in line with out capacity, we're too tight to sell.

Nobody wants any of these @#%&!s, that's the trouble. They're playing so poorly that nobody in their right mind would want to pay them half of what we do. So they don't want to leave.

We're lumbered with a bunch of shit mercenaries. And our wage bill just keeps spiralling up and up. And the money we spent on transfers two, three years ago is still coming out. And the £#%&!ing Glazers still want their cut for £#%&! all. And each transfer window we just sign more mercenary @#%&!s we've got no idea how to integrate into the team. So they play like shit and we can't shift them. And the endless spiral of depression goes on and on and on.

Apart from that we're all right.

The club would then have to buy replacements and it’ll be cheaper for them to keep the likes of Herrera and Young etc.

About the strength of it, mediocre players on worldy wages. The knowledge and belief that we are nothing more than has beens has well and truly set in at every level of the club, as well as everywhere else, and £#%&! knows what it will take to turn it around. Liverpool 2.0
