I'd say letting our best central midfielder go and bringing in a player such as Modric, this close to the transfer deadline, is a load of %@#$&!s.

Neither is Fletcher our best central midfielder. Most in form? Yes.

Modric has certainly sparkled - in the sunshine.

Too small and lightweight for a full on Premiership campaign. Which he's never going to get at Spurs anyway.

Modric has also proved that he can cope with the physical demands of the Premier League despite a slight frame.

"He's strong. I didn't realise it," said Redknapp. "I thought he was like Eyal Berkovic when I got here, who was a great footballer who had no strength but could play in a certain position.

"This little fella is strong. He heads the ball, tackles and has got strong legs. He's a powerful little lad. He's got a great heart and is a great all-round player."
