Indeed. We’re not too far off normality either now.

5 million people in a country the size of the UK

The left love Ardern and every picture and video is like a Julia Roberts montage...

I mean, you can't exactly get managing a virus outbreak and containment wrong when you're in a country with those stats...

Her job was to get it right, which she did by the looks of things. Cant ask for much more than that. Also handled the Christchurch shootings pretty well iirc.

You're turning this in to a circular argument

It's 4 hours from Australia

It's entire border is the sea

It's mainly farms strung out miles apart

They have extremely strict border and custom systems

How could she not get it right?

I've said this time and again, if you want to attack Boris - attack him personally with data and evidence, which i assume if you're so sure of your convictions you can do easily. Why do we feel the need to bring in NZ, which as lovely as it is, and i have friends over there, is a campsite compared to Europe.... do we really need that example to bolster your argument that Britain/Boris didn't do well?

Also, the British are in large proportion, ignorant and antagonistic - they'll have found ways to break lockdown and make problems no matter who was in charge.

she's done very well. but elhombre is right - their population is tiny and split onto two islands. Their capital city has a population comparable to one borough in london.

You'd have to have been a complete £#%&!ing clown to get it wrong.

They had significant advantages to bring it to total elimination but it was never a foregone conclusion. They've done well and fair play to them.

You want to know how wrong a country can get it, there was a good blog on Sweden not being the poster case the denialists wanted it to be on the Covid thread.

our borders in europe are so porous and with all these countries packed in so tightly it was always going to be a shit show.

Out of all of europe we stood the best chance at getting it right because we're an island nation that should have been able to get ahead of it. But we're run by greedy idiots who chose to ignore Italy practically begging us to pay attention and instead they've £#%&!ed it up at every turn.

This is an island country too (though technically with a land border with yours - controversial!) and with a smaller and less dense population we had more advantages, but you're comparing with the larger European nations and that makes sense. But yes all that is true. Was crigning for your boys especially in the early days.

one thing boris will use is the state of the economy early doors after lockdown...

one could argue that this is as it is because we didn't lockdown early enough and so it dragged out hence the slump

others will argue that if boris had been even stricter and kept it going we'd have no economy left

with politics you can spin the data however you want to prove your point.

If we'd have locked down even a week earlier we'd have seen a huge difference. We all know they were making it up as they went along anyway.

you wonder how this will play out going forward. Countries that have come down early on it have no immunity in the population so there a real risk they could get a bad 2nd wave.

You'd have to think at least 3 million people have had it in the UK maybe even more.

Yes but that's because it's run by a weapons grade £#%&!wit. Sweden thought they were being clever.

Had Schalke v Leverkusen on for a bit. It's the first bit I've had on since the first weekend the bundesliga came back, and it's definitely prefereable with a bit of piped crowd noise.

Still fairly shit though.

Just been watching a match from the Spanish second division The piped noise is all wrong, it's a game that would have had a big away following - no really, Sporting away at Depor - but they'd tried to synch the noise with the action but it was all home fans so didn't fit this game.

Can't wait til the £#%&!ing vermin just play a scratched CD of theirs singing that £#%&!ing song for 90 minutes

Real Madrid on, playing in a stadium of 6000 capacity so work can start on the Bernabeu, sounds like there's 100,000 there

Having a leader who is not a complete £#%&!ing clown seems aspirational nowadays.
