This is it really

We either sign Maguire who has done well and progressed over the last few seasons or sign another relatively unknown prospect like Diop or Dias for 20m less, or we go into the season with the players we have and perhaps Tuanzabe gets a chance to shine?

Transfer fees aren’t what they were, they mean next to nothing now because of how inflated the market has become.

These days you can’t really bully smaller clubs into selling their best players, they’re all making a shit load of money and if you want their players then you have to pay what they want.

You trust the club

Smalling 2.0 solves none of our problems.....

He's prone to huge mistakes, can't defend runners and pace and he's a cumbersome idiot

Gary Cahill on a free. Is the same level as Maguire.

Why on earth would you trust the club when the amount of good players we've bought since 2008 is in single digits?!

Stones and Maguire. A £50m defender and a potential £90m defender.

Rio, Terry, Campbell, Carragher didn't need protecting.
Didn’t they? Maybe you never saw them that often without protection.

The point is they were being described as a weak link, something that needs mitigating.

Never viewed any of the CBs listed as that.

The answer to the problem is staring us right in the face.

Tuanzebe.

We just bought a RB with just one full season under his belt for £50m. No reason this time next year Tuanzebe can't be that highly rated. Has proven himself in the rough and tough of the Championship. Now is his time.

Not really tho Armers if so why is he still available if free?

Everyone going on about not one of the worlds best 5 shit. Course not but have we forgotten how shit we have become? It is quite a small pool who are interested in joining us and clubs know we are desperate hence even more price hikes. Utd have only themselves to blame. A good board of directors would know values and prices were only going one way

I like him a lot but he does look very similar to Lindelof.

We looked shaky defending set pieces yesterday and all of last season too, so a commanding centre back would help tbf.

Also you need more than two centre backs so even if Maguire signed Tuanzabe could still get plenty of games if Ole trusts him over Dumb and dumber and the other two.

Great talent, excellent defender, superb on the ball, good pace. Can't win a header.

We'll get better on set pieces and crosses etc with more time and practice. That stuff doesn't worry me. We'll also become better as a unit defensively by being better as an attacking force. By virtue of having less to do and being 10 yards further up, ike the City defenders do. I'm not sure we can play a high line if we buy Brigadier Blockhead considering his lack of pace.

We’ve been saying that for 6 years tbf. We need someone back there that can actually defend from set pieces.

Laporte isn’t the quickest yet is arguably City’s best defender.

Is Maguire an 80m player? Probably not, but not many players are yet seem to go for close to that every window. The market is £#%&!ed and when players like Tyrone Mings go for close to 30m after a decent 15 games in the championship it shows how £#%&!ed it is.
