Didn't they say Rooney was leaking stuff to the press?

Interesting.

What did he teach him, how to give the ball away the whole game and make Lukaku’s first touch look like Zidane’s?

He gave Rashford a chance and I agree with Rooney that it looked like the club was on its way in the right direction despite quite a few bad results and performances. A few of the signings didn’t work out and he was probably due for one to not be a disappointment.

We turned up against Liverpool and City for the first time in a while also. There’s negatives and there’s positives from his time at United but most reds seem to focus on the negs.

Its not hard to understand why Rooney would have wanted him to stick around. Played him to death and started a season with Fellaini as competition for his striking place.

Carrick said that LVG was superb, he said a lot of the players couldn’t grasp some of the simple things he was trying to implement. He said that it was a shame that they didn’t get a Louis Van Gaal that was ten years younger .

Wasn't Carrick one of the ones whinging about two sessions a day idea, as clashed with school pickups?

Probably currently deleting all the posts in which he claimed Rooney was leading the players rebellion against LVG.

Don’t remember that but it’s great to see his ex players acknowledging his methods.

All the top boys could see what he was trying to do. Shame the players took so long to get with the program. Reckon season3 would have seen lift off...

100%

Iirc correctly we had to focus on not conceding stupid goals in the first half of that second season, so we played it safe constantly. We also didn’t have the personnel up front to play that kind of slow possession football. It’s a shame he made some absolutely horrendous signings; Schneiderlin could still be here and I wouldn’t care/know, just the epitome of ‘anonymous’.

By the end of the season we had started to look like we knew what we’re doing, and one or two decent signings in the summer, it could have all been a different story.
