2-3 England players in a combined 11?

Looking at France's line up this afternoon, I find that hard to believe.

Thumbs down

Think they will struggle tonight let alone the whole thing. Inherent cowardice will as per usual be their undoing.

Bellingham for Rabiot certainly
Walker for Pavard/Kounde at right back certainly (at least when Pavard is in this form)
Saka for Dembele likely (although arguable Dembele has higher ceiling when in the mood)
Kane over Giroud (but v. debatable over whether Kane would go over Benzema, were he fit. Consensus is likely not.)

Becomes tricky at that point. Who would you take instead other than above?

Foden over Griezmann any day of the week. That's already half a side Hernandez not really any better than Shaw. Both keepers are clowns on their day.

Benzema isn't in the tournament, so completely moot point really.

If England had Varane, they'd probably be favourites for the tournament.

Foden plays his best football on either side of the wing (unless false 9 .. which neither team plays with .. the structure of both sides is quite similar). Above Dembele obviously (in which case Saka drops out), but none of the England wide players deserve mention in the same breath as Mbappe if discussing other side.

Shaw has had a few decent cumulative months of football for 5 years. Good this season, but not sold on him above either of the Hernandez brothers .. always comes up short in the games that matter, only trophy he's got is for a tournament he was dropped in while majority of this forum were clamouring for him to be dropped for Holland's reserve up to 8 weeks ago. We'll see how it goes.

Pickford does not go over Lloris. None of the England centre backs make the France squad let alone team. Mbappe speaks for himself. Tchouaméni best midfielder from both teams. Griezmann over Mount. Kane yes as mentioned, given Benzema's injury. Where the gaps are wide, they are very wide.

He may well play his best football out wide currently, I'd still pick him every day of the week over Griezmann.

Think we've already agreed that the 2-3 claim was nonsense anyway.

3 + Kane while Benzema is injured. Let's see how the tournament progresses.

I wondered if it was something like that. Presume similar for Ben White? Targeting England players houses while they know they are away.
