Not £8m quid is it? And it is a press report. It is issued by the clubs, it says what they want it to say.

I hope you are right, and Liverpool have been spanked.

It makes no odds to Spurs, they now have another of the players that keep them gloriously mediocre for so long and have put Defoe back in the position he originally sought to escape from.

Liverpool now have 1 decent striker.

Great deal for United.

I can't believe that this has gone on so long.

The only thing up for debate is how great the loss is, not whether they actually made a loss

That is a matter of opinion. I don't think bringing Robbie Keane back is that good a deal tbh, regardless of the money. But I don't really give a £#%&! as Spurs are and will remain shit.

yup, crazy. any remote chance they had of mounting a title challenge has definitely gone now.

This is why its odd on both sides:

1. Liverpool have shipped out a few players including Pennant and Keane which obviously leaves them light. It almost looks as if they are cutting wage bill. According to one of the papers today they had to borrow the money for Keane except for £5m. So giving him back reduces debt.

2. Spurs: now reassembling Jol's team aside from Berbs. Keane and Defoe makes no sense as that's why Defoe left so he must be £#%&!ed. 'Arry likes one up front and will have 4 to choose from when Defoe is back.

Yup, tbh it was a decent idea at the time but Spurs complete implosion has made it pointless.

cant now, hes there until the end of the season. its a shame as he has looked quite good at times but tbh spurs are too big a club for him really, he should have gone to hull or west brom etc start of the season.

Are Keane and Defoe cup tied for the Carling Cup?

Defoe played/scored in the semi for Spurs, though he'll be out injured anyway.

Not sure about Keane.

Wonder if Fergus'll let him play in the Carling Cup final as Defoe is injured and Keane is cup tied? Interesting.

They signed Campbell as cover as they only had Pavlyuchenko and Bent left by the end of the Summer window, so it made sense as it stood to reason he would get games.

When you consider his performances, against Liverpool in the Cup for example, it's strange they haven't given him more of a chance. Just goes to show what a difficult position the club who take the player on loan are in, particularly if there is no chance of a permanent deal at the end. They don't want to play the loan player ahead of the players they own, which is fair enough.

United should've moved him or brought him back in this window, sat around and playing reserve football at Spurs will do him no favours.

I think loaning players to a team in the same division should be stopped tbh. He would have benefitted much more by playing for a Championship team.
