Switching Off

Thumbs up Steve Bruce

Bruce said: “I put my boots on and I had a go - I wasn’t blessed with anything naturally.

“In fact when I left United I got a present from Sir Alex. One of the United scouts had come to see me play when I was at Gillingham.

“It was a scouting report which I’ve got hung up in my toilet."

“It said, ‘Bruce moved from the back into midfield because he had a head injury. Rather slow on the turn. Technically, not very good. His left side is awful. Can’t run. Not the biggest. For me a Third Division player all his life – that’s his level!’.

Loved him

Ironically, made a video diary called 'Captain's Log'. Now has a whole new meaning.

Makes you think.

love Brucey

My dad got pretty friendly with him when my brother was at United playing in the same team as his son, Alex. He’s a really lovely man.

Woah, steady on there Parters; you’ll have the anti-ITK mob baying for your blood.

How dare you have any kind of personal connections with professional football men!

He always looked unsteady on his feet, almost as if he realised the only way to compensate for his lack of pace was to be constantly balancing on his toes in readiness.

Great defender mind and with hindsight i'm probably glad we didn't get Des Walker in 93/94.
